India Food Tourism Organisation (IFTO) co-hosted and curated the culinary programme at the North East Festival 2021 in New Delhi, bringing together the region’s diverse cuisines, produce and tea traditions. Through chef-led masterclasses, state food stalls and interactive tastings, the festival connected Northeast India’s culinary heritage with cultural exchange, tourism and public engagement.

The India Food Tourism Organisation (IFTO) participated in the Tamenglong Orange Festival 2022, held from 17–19 December 2022 in Tamenglong, Manipur, and organised by the Government of Manipur. As part of the festival’s “Masterclass by Celebrity Chefs”, IFTO curated a product-led culinary programme celebrating the GI-registered Tamenglong Orange through innovative chef demonstrations and storytelling. Led by Ms Shikha Gupta, Honorary Secretary, IFTO, the culinary team showcased the versatility of the region’s signature orange across fresh salads, Orange Kheer and orange-brined pork chops with orange sauce. The masterclass brought together chefs, local communities, growers and festival visitors, demonstrating how regional produce can connect agriculture, cuisine, hospitality and food tourism while creating new opportunities for culinary innovation and destination promotion.

As part of World Food India 2025, 25th Sep to 29th Sep 2025 ,the Ministry of Tourism organized a four-day thematic event titled “Reviving the Culinary Treasures of India”, conceptualized and curated by the India Food Tourism Organisation (IFTO).

The program aimed to showcase India’s culinary heritage, its ancient food wisdom, and its growing relevance in contemporary gastronomy, sustainability, and tourism.

The event brought together eminent chefs, culinary historians, food researchers, journalists, tourism experts, and entrepreneurs from across India to discuss and demonstrate the revival of traditional cuisines and indigenous ingredients.

Average daily footfall exceeded 4,000 visitors, with significant participation from IHMs, culinary schools, state tourism boards, and the media.

And on the second day of the event, a felicitation was done by Senior journalist Ms Navika Kumar Group Editor, Times Network | Editor-in-Chief, Times Now Navbharat | Times Now One of the main attractions of the events was Masterclass for authentic north-eastern cuisines by celebrity chefs Chef Joel Basumatari from Nagaland, Chef Sanjukta Das from Assam and Chef Atul Lahkar from Assam. Noted tea sommelier Vikram Mittal performed an interesting talk and interactive tea tasting sessions about various types of tea grown in the region and the value of Tea Tourism. A number of other celebrity chefs and senior personalities in the culinary and hospitality fields including Chef Rajeev Goyal- President India Food Tourism Org., Chef Gautam Chaudhry, Chef Sanjay Agrawal, Amit Lohani-Founder Director FIFI & Patron Member of India Food Tourism Org.
